Spotlight on Volunteer Samara Stone

Volunteer Spotlight

This month we’re thrilled to highlight one of our amazing volunteers, Samara Stone. This Warehouse Subassembly Volunteer, Samara Stone, shares the impact Art in Action has made for her and others in the community.

What do you love most about volunteering?
I’m currently not working, so it’s an opportunity to use my time with a sense of purpose. Helping others is fulfilling. Additionally, I get to enjoy pleasant conversations and developing relationships with the staff.

That’s amazing Samara- we love having you.
What has been your favorite project or activity that you have worked on with our non-profit?
I actually like the tasks assigned to me in the warehouse. I know that the supplies are going directly to the students to be utilized. Some people might find it monotonous, but I find that it quiets my mind. It’s relaxing.

What does Art in Action mean to you?
Since I was a kid I was drawn (no pun intended) to art. I continue to find ways to create as an adult. And I’ve discovered how the creative process has benefited me beyond the art itself. Bringing art to students for hands-on learning and encouraging children to be creative is a wonderful way to both enhance the learning process and embrace different types of learning styles while helping them develop so many skills. I think it’s a wonderful way to celebrate inclusivity because creativity is boundless.

What have you learned or gained through your volunteering experience with Art in Action?
It just feels good for my soul to be in a space and around people who have a shared mission and feel passionate about what they do.

We at Art in Action are thankful for our amazing volunteers like Samara who give back and help us reach students across the country get art in their hands! If you would like to give back please send an email to volunteer@artinaction.org!
