educational standards

The National Core Arts Standards (NCAS) express the key concepts, processes, and traditions of study in all subject areas, and address the needs of those invested in our schools—students, teachers, administrators, and the community. They’re framed by a definition of artistic literacy including philosophical foundations, lifelong goals, artistic processes, creative practices, anchor/performance standards. This framework also provides essential assessments to measure student experiences and success. This conceptual framework is designed to be understood by all stakeholders to ensure success for both educators and students in the real world of the school.

Common Core Standards and the Arts

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are designed to ensure that students leave school with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in college and in their careers. The Art in Action curriculum provides a broad range of ways to integrate our visual arts curriculum with other core subjects, especially language arts and math. The CCSS are highlighted in each lesson. For more on how our lessons are aligned with Common Core Standards, click here.
