Art in Action Scholarship Fund
Every child deserves art!
The mission of Art in Action is to bring art to all children. Each year the Fund provides selected schools with this exciting art program, including materials and training. Now, more than ever, an arts education is vital to the social-emotional learning of our students. As students return back to the classroom, we can’t wait to see their creativity flourish through art!
Since 2016, the Art in Action Scholarship Fund has provided our programs and supplies to 116 classrooms in 40 schools across 19 states every single year.

How It Started
Judy Sleeth making a toast and sharing the impact Art in Action has made in 40 years!
In 1982 Judy Sleeth, a parent, teacher, and curriculum developer, was alarmed to find her child’s class and the whole school had no art program. Her passion for art and her belief that children need creative expression led her to write her own lessons. These quickly became popular at local schools because they are easy to teach and the students love them. Soon Art in Action spread nationwide. It became a nonprofit in 1999, and it continues to develop the curriculum and train teachers. It is now an online program, accessible to educators everywhere. Currently reaching 75,000 children in 20+ states, Judy is thrilled that so many children are learning critical-thinking, creativity, self-expression and cultural awareness through art.
Applying for the Scholarship
Access to the online grade level curriculum and the Art in Action Program supplements
All art materials needed to teach 12 complete lessons
Training for every member of the Art in Action teaching team at your school, either in person or via webinar
Year-round teaching support
Help developing a sustainable plan for art at your school
Included:
Names of a teacher, parent or volunteer who will teach in each classroom awarded
Demonstration that lessons have been taught, including surveys, feedback, and reports
Feedback must be provided in Nov., Jan. and May of scholarship year, including testimonials and images
Completion of a mid-term survey
Completion of a final report
Requirements:
K-8 schools not already using the Art in Action program
School must be designated Title I or be able to demonstrate need
A letter of commitment to teach the program during the award year signed by the applicant and principal
