AiA

Balance: Equality of visual weight, or activity, on both sides of a central axis.

Emphasis: Drawing attention to the main theme of a work of art through color and placement.

Movement: The way the elements of a work of art direct the viewer’s eyes around it.

Rhythm: The flow or sense of movement achieved by the repetition of lines and patterns.

Unity: The overall harmony of a work, often created through repetition of color and shape.

Variety: Individuality and contrast as opposed to harmony.
