Art in Action Benefit Event Enriches Lives of Homeless Children
Art in Action, in conjunction with the San Mateo Main Library, will host an event on November 19, 2008 to benefit homeless children from the Shelter Network. Families are invited to come and listen to stories, enjoy treats and create a “Giving Tree” all centered around the theme of “helping others”. All attendees are welcome to bring storybooks and/or art supplies (paint, brushes, paper, markers, watercolors, modeling clay, glue, beads, etc.) to donate to the children who reside at the Shelter. These supplies will help stock the art room at the Shelter.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for children to lend a hand and see how they can help children in their community,” says Program Manager Mara Grimes. “We encourage families to attend and show their children that everyone can help make our community a better place. By helping the children at Shelter Network obtain art materials, we hope to ensure that all kids can experience the joys, wonders, and enrichment that visual art can provide.”
